Staff planting days and the Birds, Bees, Kids and Trees programme have helped to restore Tauranga’s Kopurererua Valley to a more natural state. Comvita® has donated $50,000 worth of trees over five years, which equates to over 15,000 native trees, including Manuka, being planted since 2005.
Comvita’s® Birds, Bees, Kids and Trees (BBKT) environmental programme celebrated five years in 2010 with two more school groups taking part in a planting day at Kopurererua Valley – and to mark the occasion the children enjoyed a cake made up of 50 cupcakes.

The BBKT programme introduces children to the importance of looking after the environment in a hands-on way by planting Manuka trees. The children are encouraged to learn about, and respect their environment and in doing so, Comvita® is helping to sow the seeds for a sustainable future.
