We all know honey is delicious on toast, but did you know that it’s also one of the world’s original beauty products? Find out why with these three honey beauty hacks.
4 Honey Hacks For Beautiful Skin
1. Goodbye, acne!
Some honey has natural antibacterial properties and can help with bacteria that leads to breakouts. In some cases specialized antibacterial honey has also been shown to speed up the growth of new, healthy tissue! UMF grade Manuka Honey from New Zealand is independently tested and rated for it’s potency. Try an at-home beauty mask using Comvita Manuka Honey, and leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Do not use table honey on broken skin (antibacterial medical honey is irradiated and suitable for use on wounds, find out more at dermasciences.com), discontinue use if irritation occurs, please consult your physician prior to use on skin conditions.
2. Sunburn soother
Make a mixture of half honey and half natural aloe vera gel and gently dab onto sunburned skin. Leave the mixture on overnight, or if you’re worried about getting your sheets sticky then as long as possible before bed. Try to look for filtered honey, so that it’s not gritty and won’t irritate the skin any further. At Comvita we filter the honey through a series of up to six fine filters, ultimately through a mesh of 100 µm (micro meters). This eliminates gross contaminants including bee bodies or parts thereof, debris from the hive including grass, twigs and stones and beeswax. Add half a cup of baking soda to one cup of honey for an amazing exfoliator. Massage it into your skin with a loofah or sponge while you shower, and get ready for the softest, smoothest, sweetest skin ever!
4. Toning facial mask
Tighten and brighten your face with this honey face-mask that you can whip up with three ingredients from your kitchen. Combine one egg white, one teaspoon of lemon juice, and one teaspoon of honey and mix gently. Apply to your face and let it dry (20-30 minutes). Rinse off with warm water. Your face will feel fresh and tingly and your skin will glow.
