Ritual Simplicity: 7 Rituals to Boost Wellness & Promote Self-Care
Last week, we kicked off a series to help you cultivate naturally healthy habits that make a big difference for your mind, body, and lifestyle –– #RitualSimplicity is 21 days of easy rituals to keep you well, happy, and thriving all year long. (Missed out on our top 9 lifestyle rituals? Get up to speed here.)
This week, we’re sharing 7 of our favorite simple, practical rituals that boost physical wellness and promote self-care.
1. Begin Your Day with a Glass of Water
After a quality night of sleep, our bodies need to be replenished in order to function properly. While it might be tempting to go straight for a hot cup of coffee when you first wake up, challenge yourself by drinking a full 16-ounce glass of water first to help aid in rehydration (then that almond milk latte is all yours to indulge in.) This simple hydrating habit will become an automatic self-care routine in no time.
2. Beat Afternoon Fatigue with This Rewarding Wake-Up Routine
When you’re feeling tired and sluggish, it’s easy to let wellness fall by the wayside. Knowing how to beat the slump is an important way to stay on top of your goals –– and it all starts with the beginning of your day. Twice a week, dedicate 15 minutes of your morning to a quick at-home workout (we love these suggestions from our friends at CleanPlates) followed by a delicious, energizing smoothie: blend 1 whole avocado with 1 cup coconut milk and 1 tablespoon Comvita UMF™ Manuka Honey.
3. Take a Daily Detox Break With this Delicious Elixir
It’s important to cleanse and hydrate the body of harsh toxins and impurities on a routine basis to keep your body operating at its best. This simple drink is a refreshing way to spruce up a plain glass of water AND it adds an extra potent punch when you add a spoonful of Manuka Honey!
Here’s how to make it:
Glass of cold water / mug of hot water
1 tbsp Comvita UMF™ Manuka Honey
Fresh slices of ginger (optional)
Squeeze ingredients in a mug. Stir. Let settle. Drink. Enjoy!
4. Set Aside 10 Minutes for a Calm, Mindful Breakfast
By carving out quality “me time” in the morning, you’re setting the tone for your entire day. Start with a delicious gut-healthy, high protein meal to like a probiotic-rich greek yogurt bowl, topped with sunflower and chia seeds, pistachios, fresh berries, a drizzle of Manuka Honey, and a teaspoon of black sea salt (which can be prepared the night before to save time). As you sit down to eat, check in with your five senses. What do you notice? How do you feel? With each bite, focus on the present moment and how each sense is being activated.
5. Drink This Manuka-Infused Tonic Once a Week
We’re conditioned to believe the “go-go-go” mentality is a key ingredient for success. But long periods of stress can wreak havoc on the immune system. Arm your defenses by whipping up a powerful UMF™ Certified Manuka Honey-infused tonic at least once a week to to help fend off winter blues, boost energy levels, and keep you feeling your very best.
- Bring 1 cup of water to a low boil
- Add ¼ tsp fresh grated turmeric, ¼ tsp fresh grated ginger, and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- Pour contents into mug through a fine tea strainer
- Stir in 1 tbsp Comvita UMF™ Manuka Honey
- Top with a dash of cayenne pepper + fresh slices of lemon (optional)
6. Practice Presence with a Cup of Tea
Pour, steep, drizzle, ohm, repeat. When daily life gets stressful, there’s nothing quite as calming as a hot cup of tea. But rather than gulp it down, use this as an opportunity to cultivate mindfulness. Brew up your favorite variety or blend, add a spoonful of Manuka Honey, and while it’s steeping, set an intention for this 5-minute ritual. Close your eyes, and with every sip, focus on your intention. (Learn about the benefits of pairing Comvita UMF™ Manuka Honey with various tea varieties here.)
7. Do This Relaxing Nighttime Routine for Restful Sleep
By now, you likely have a regular morning ritual that helps you launch your day (see #1, #3, and #4). But how about winding down at night? Cultivating a relaxing nighttime routine is paramount to your well-being. Whether it’s reading a couple chapters of a book or taking a soothing bubble bath, keeping the same routine every night will signal to your body that it’s time to settle down.
